BROADCAST COULEURS DU MONDE, FRANCE MUSIQUE
ANTONIO CASTRIGNANO (Italy)
Contagious trance of impetuous Taranta
Activist of the revival of traditional music from southeastern Puglia, Antonio Castrignano slides his voice and tambourine in the frantic and liberating rhythms of the pizzica salentina, invigorating these irresistible ancient trance and their therapeutic virtues. Associated for his new album to Turkish Dj-producer Mercan Dede, the young Italian artist brings true modernity, alternating soft music to evoke memory or love and hypnotic rhythms to lead exciting Taranta dances. Those that contaminate bodies and souls and ignite Salento all-nighters.
(supported by Puglia Sound and Institut Culturel Italien)
Mario Lucio will be giving a showcase to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the independence of Cape Verde, a performance inevitably of mixed accents. As a major figure of the Cape Verdean culture (leader of the legendary band Simentera, skilled multi-intsrumentalist and…current Minister of Culture!), this unique artist holds the Creole identity at the heart of the definition of this African Portuguese-speaking archipelago.
Babel Med Music expands to a selection of movies and documentaries on world music illustrating cultural diversity, dialogue between cultures, heritage conservation, rare aesthetic and the latest news of global sound hubs.

These will take place on the 26th and 27st March 2015 from 9am until 11.45am. The young people will follow each step of the creative process and of the music production and will attend a private concert, followed by debates with the performing artists.
More details soon.
Babel Med Music is committed to a program of sustainable growth and eco responsibility that has an impact on the economic, human and social aspect of the event and of the organisation as a whole. As a result of this commitment, a host of questions about work ethics are discussed and debated both during the festival and throughout the rest of the year.
Various actions are being undertaken regarding the following : transport – public transport, bicycle parking, shared driving pick-up spots; communication – for instance in the use of paperless communication whenever possible and in the use of recycled paper and vegetable inks; catering – reusable cups, recycling, recycled packaging; as well as the pooling of equipment and their energy saving policy.
Babel Med Music has been a partner of the organisation called ‘Culture du Coeur’ for many years. ‘Culture du Coeur 13’ is an organisation whose aim is to fight against exclusion by encouraging easy access to culture for people from all horizons especially the under-priviledged.
As a result of this policy, Babel Med Music puts aside 150 free tickets.
They also welcome with open arms, organisations who work with young people in order to help with their integration in Society. These young people are being given work experience : preparing the stands, working on the desk and helping with security.
