FESTI’BABEL

Meeting - aperitif
12:00 - 13:30

Organised by BABEL MED MUSIC in collaboration with EFWMF

During meetings and professional trade shows, festivals’ artistic directors and programmers are often very much in demand dealing with artists, tour managers and agents. They, of course, attend most concerts and conferences but rarely get an opportunity to meet their peers.
This year again, together with EFWMF, Babel Med Music provides a set time for these professionals to meet. The aim is to create an informal network of programmers from around the world and to facilitate an exchange on their respective activities and festivals.

An introduction at PRIDES, CULTURAL INDUSTRIES HERITAGES

Presentation
12:30 - 13:30

The PRIDES Heritage and Culture is the only example, nowadays in Europe, of an expert actor bringing together the organisations dealing with diffusion, transmission and the work on the field of heritage and culture.
It gathers around one hundred
actors (companies, research laboratories, training centers, associations, international festivals) specializing in conservation, restoration, preservation, valorization and diffusion of
architectural, natural, cultural and the immaterial heritage.
The purpose of our communication is the presentation of concrete
actions in support of our members, such as training, mornings led by consultants on development matters: trade actions, e-reputation, cash management.

Speakers :
Gilles Martinent

MUSIC OF OUTREMER.
Insular identity versus global market ambitions: which strategy for local government and the profes-sional sector?

PanelOrganised by IRMA & Zone Franche
14:30 - 16:00

Rooted institutionally as much in mainland France as in the French-speaking communities around the world (Francophonie), the ‘Départements’ and local communities of Outremer have developed, respectively, strong cultural identities. For each of them, music is the most universally accessible expression to reach out to other people on earth. (...)
How can we combine the preservation of this immaterial heritage with the aspirations of cultural producers keen to promote artists and their works? What type of organisation can we develop to enhance the value of cultural heritage and foster artistic creation? What relays can we offer to music professionals to facilitate the promotion of artists?
These are some of the questions that will be tackled in this round-table.

NETWORKS, FEDERATIONS, UNIONS...
WHAT TYPE OF COLLECTIVE ACTION FOR INDEPENDANTS?

In partnership with CD1D, Professional Federation of Independant Labels.
16:00 - 17:30

Changes in the music sector force us to re-think ways of working and acting together. Experience sharing, tools and services bought in common, a willingness to lobby, economies of scale...All good reasons that encourage organisations to get together and share their practices. While these methods of collaboration are nothing new, they are on the increase with the recession. This talk will provide an overview of the various initiatives with examples from several professions and locations.

Moderator
Cédric Claquin, Founding member, CD1D

Speakers
Cécile Communal, Project manager, Bureau Export de la Musique française de Londres
